We Can Help You Select the Right Heat Pump System For Your Home
Although it can feel at times like Portland-area weather experiences significant highs and lows, compared to other areas of the country, our climate is relatively moderate. Because of this, Heat Pumps (mini-splits) can be an energy-efficient alternative to traditional furnace and air conditioner systems, whether you’re replacing an existing system or deciding on a system for a new addition to your home. We proudly install Ruud Heat Pumps due to their reliability, affordability and high efficiency.
How do Heat Pump systems work?
Heat Pumps have two parts: an indoor unit, called an Air Handler, and an outdoor unit, known as a Heat Pump. Heat Pumps use electricity to circulate refidgerant between the two units, which transfers heat away from a cool space, making the cool space more cool and the warm area warmer. Because Heat Pumps systems move heat, rather than create it, they can operate at as little as a quarter of the cost of a traditional system. They also remove humidity from the air better than traditional systems, which means less energy use and more cooling comfort when you need it most

How do I select the right Heat Pump for my home?
If you’re considering a Heat Pump system for your home, there are a few things to consider:
- SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, and is an efficiency rating for cooling systems. A higher SEER rating means greater energy efficiency.
- HSPF stands for Heating Season Performance Factor and is a measure of a heating system’s efficiency. Again, the higher the rating, the more efficient the system.
- A Decible Rating refers to how loudly a Heat Pump does its work. Through extensive testing, Ruud has designed its Heat Pumps to be among the quietest available.
- Your System Size is also important! We can help you determine the best size system for your space so you make the most of an efficient system without spending more than you need.
No ductwork in your home? No problem!
If your home is without ducts, or you’re looking for a solution for a unique space or home addition, a ductless heat pump might be right for you.
